On January 26, 2022, the Diamond Bar-Walnut branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW)  announced the winners of the 6th annual Speech Trek contest. Walnut High School Junior, Margaret Lee placed 2nd and Junior, Alex Santiago, received Honorable Mention. Both received cash prizes due to the generous donations from members in the community. 

 

Contestants had to deliver a speech on the Topic: Has the United States lived up to its pledge of “liberty and justice for all”? Would requiring the study of diversity and inclusion in a high school setting help ensure liberty and justice for all?

 

They were judged on the introduction of speech, content based on research, and delivery.
