Walnut High School proudly announces that five of its members of the class of 2023 were named National Merit Scholarship Program Finalists on February 14, 2023. Samuel Chou, Kaleb Dy, Shani Su, Chelsea Yeh, and Jadon Zhu were all named as finalists.

After being named Semifinalists in the fall, these students were reviewed and evaluated based on their academic record, information about Walnut High School’s curricula and grading system, national test scores, school recommendations, information about their activities and leadership, and an essay each of them wrote.

They are among the top 1% of academically talented high school seniors from across the country who compete for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $20 million that will be awarded in the spring.
